Contract Opportunity: Academic Copy/Content Editor

At Skyrocket, Inc. we create high-quality educational materials that engage students and support independent learning. We are seeking skilled, detail-oriented content edit contractors to produce readers, instructor manuals, and exams for middle and high school courses. This is a high-volume project of 200-400 pages with a 5–7 day turnaround and an estimated time commitment of 20–60 hours. We strongly prefer candidates with a background in newspaper editing, proof reading, academic publishing, or curriculum design. The ideal candidate consistently produces high-quality, template-aligned work under tight deadlines.
Requirements:
- A proofreader’s attention to detail to spot inconsistencies in content, formatting, and instructional design
- Ability to simplify complex concepts while maintaining accuracy and engagement
- Ability to produce work that utilizes student-focused instructional language rather than a removed or summative tone
- Strict adherence to provided templates and formatting guidelines
- Commitment to post turn-in revisions, following an in-house quality assurance check
- Familiarity with curriculum development and learning standards (Common Core, NGSS, or other relevant frameworks)
- Experience editing assessments, workbooks, or instructional texts.
- Proficiency in Google Docs
- Regular check-ins via Google Meet and communication through Google Docs comments with our lead Copy Editor
Additional skills (preferred):
- Experience working with Adobe InDesign and access to a personal account
- A background in newspaper editing, proof reading, academic publishing, or curriculum design
